Come see why Stephenville has been listed among “The 100 Best Small Towns in America!”

Stephenville is the Erath County seat and is located about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas. Agriculture is Stephenville’s leading industry and Erath County is the state’s leading milk producer with approximately $140 million in production.

Our downtown historic district covers over 22 full city blocks surrounding the 1892 Erath County Courthouse and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. Our remarkable square features streets paved with Thurber bricks during the 1920s.

Stephenville is the proud home of Tarleton State University, the founding member of the Texas A & M System. Tarleton was recently moved to Division I of the NCAA sports.

Summer in Stephenville

Since 1783, people have enjoyed the fascination of hot air ballooning, and to this day, the enchantment continues!

Our Moo-La Fest hot air balloon festival kicks off National Dairy Month the first weekend in June.

In addition to hot air ballooning, Moo-La Fest will feature dairy activities, tethered and balloon rides, live music, a carnival, a Kid’s Zone, food trucks and vendors, beer and wine, local artisan cheeses, and balloon glows.

Moo-La Fest honors our community’s rich dairy heritage each year.

Our July 4 events start with an old-fashioned parade, events in the park where kids can swim at Splashville.

The evening features a concert line-up at the Birdsong Amphitheater, followed by fireworks at dark.
